Peabody-Essex Museum

We drove to the historic town of Salem, Massachusetts today to visit the Peabody-Essex Museum, where they currently have a fascinating exhibit of photographer Sally Mann's images.  A very thought-provoking and absorbing experience.  I read and enjoyed her autobiography, Hold Still a couple of years ago, so it was a treat to be able to see her work up close.

This is a shot of the soaring central public space in the museum.  A lot of Sally Mann's pictures were/are very dark, and the lighting in the exhibition accentuated that darkness, making it difficult to get good shots without a flash.  However, I've added one in Extras -- an arresting image called Picnic (1992).
