Solace Day 12 Heron

This hasn't been a good holiday for bird shots. I've only seen about 4 kingfishers and always flying past, no photos taken. I haven't seen very many herons, either and have immediately deleted the shots of them until today.

This chappie gave me a few reasonable shots before he flew off. Looking at the shot at 1:1 I can see he has a wrongly formed claw. It is curving the wrong way and hence isn't getting worn down.

Travel was slow today, most of our time was spent getting down the flight of 15 Audlem locks. There was a bit of queueing in the pounds between the locks and more boats going down than coming up so a lot of time spent filling up the locks.
