Quod oculus meus videt

Spirit Island, Maligne Lake

We finally reached an acceptable hotel bedroom at 10 pm the previous evening.  It had been a long and tiring day, but credit was due to Mike, our guide and John (with Debs) who managed to convince the powers that be of the unsuitability of the accommodation originally booked.  Unfortunately, because of the scarcity of rooms around Jasper, it will necessitate us moving each night to a different hotel until we return to Calgary and our onward journeys home.

Today we visited Maligne Lake and a boat trip for a short visit to the area near Spirit Island.  It was truly a magnificent trip and despite being only given 15 minutes around the area adjacent to the island we all felt it was well worth it.  Photographic conditions were challenging.  No tripod and the sunlight was behind the island as we looked towards it.  This was my best effort and despite it being hand held I managed to bracket shots and combine them as an HDR.  I'm sure I'd do a better job on my main computer, but this will suffice until returning home.
