This sums up the day!

Dear Diary,

Wow! What a wild and windy day it was! We made it to Rosalyn Chapel alright and despite the pelting rain that was coming at us sideways, I manage to get some shots of the exterior. No photography is allowed inside.

We next stopped Montross Abbey, where Brave Heart, Robert the Bruce’s heart is buried. (Sorry Mel Gibson, it wasn’t William Wallace that was called that.) You can see that the sky was blue at that point but it didn’t last. It was then that the wind began to really pick up and by the time we reached Hadrian’s Wall its was gusting to 80mph! We simply couldn’t make it all the way to the wall. A few did, but I didn’t want to risk my foot when I saw a young girl blown off the path! So, that’s the best I could do.

Our driver was wonderful, dodging falling trees and wind blown debris to return us safely to Edinburgh. Things have started to calm down a bit. Boy, that glass of wine is sure going to taste good tonight!
