Just Married

We had a day out in York today, via train.  First stop was the excellent Museum of Jorvik which we last toured 25 years or so ago.  It's on its fourth 'rebuilding' since its inception, partly due to further archaeological research and partly as a result of the nearby River Foss flooding.  The main part of the tour, through an underground recreated Viking village, is viewed from what I can only describe as a six-seater ski lift chair on an overhead track!

After our tour we spent far too much money in Lakeland and then lunched at Carluccio's before crossing the city to wander the National Railway Museum.  Heading home, ours seemed to be the only train still running as there was an overhead wire down further north at Durham and a signalling problem further south.  The station was packed with folks trying to work out what to do next as trains were delayed/cancelled.

A good day out and Season 3 of Outlander has arrived in the post!
