Sunshine after the rain

It rained all of last night and was still raining steadily this morning. Gavin took Murdoch out for his walk and he hates walking in the rain so it was not a very long walk.

It is Gavin's birthday on Tuesday so we celebrated it today by having lunch out at the RAC Club. It's another busy week so it was best to celebrate it today. It was raining and cold when we went in to lunch and when we came out it was sunny and bright again, so I took this photo of the view over the golf course as we stepped outside.

Thomas is having a very busy time with university applications and the demands of his A level courses and things on at school - but he is enjoying all of it. He has now completed his personal statement (which took 6 drafts) and completed the online UCAS application forms* all ready to push the button to send them off. As he is applying for a tough course (engineering) at challenging universities he has a lot of extra work to do as two of the universities he is applying to have their own entrance exams and if he does well enough in that there will be an interview which is more like an oral exam, so plenty of online practice papers of challenging maths problems.

I have been doing table plans for the 21st party with Adam ever since we got back from lunch and then having to redo them all again as we have decided to do a table swap after the main course. I also have another arts society event this week so there was a fair amount of admin to do on that.

Now I am looking forward to the final episode of The Bodyguard tonight - I am not convinced that the main character is actually dead, so won't be surprised if she comes back into tonight's episode!

* In England students apply through UCAS for up to five university places and if and when they receive offers from a universities they accept one offer as a firm place and another offer as a backup. All offers are usually subject to them meeting certain grade requirements in their end of year exams.
