Brogdale Farm

A day of two halves.

This morning, nearby Brogdale Farm, where we joined an orchard tour. It holds the National Fruit Collection - 4200 varieties of apple, pear, cherry, apricot, hazelnut, quince and medlar. Not for nothing is Kent called the garden of England. Our guide cut us pieces of different apples as we walked around. Interestingly different tastes.

Then this afternoon up onto the Downs above Wye. The extra is of The Devil’s Kneading Trough, a National Nature Reserve. A tremendous circular walk in the September sunshine. A couple of kestrels were enjoying the scarpe breeze, as were the migrating house martins hawking insects over the grassy pastures.
