Winter trees

Murdoch had an appointment at the vet this morning for his annual inoculations. I really like our vet, besides being very handsome (!) and having a fantastic manner with the animals, he is so sensible and always gives such good advice. He said that next year some time Murdoch will have to have his teeth done as he has one bad tooth. He also told me that unnecessary dental work is often a way for unscrupulous vets to make money and some vets require their patients to get it done at regular intervals, but he only likes to get it done once in the dog's lifetime, so it should not be done too early in their life resulting in the need for it to be done again. At twelve years old Murdoch is at the right age to get it done before he is too old and it becomes a risk with the anaesthetic.

After the visit to the vet Murdoch was rewarded with the second walk of the day in a woods that was new to him - but it was so muddy and boggy, I seemed to get mud everywhere. Murdoch got his legs and beard washed when we got home as he was filthy. I took this photo of the trees on our walk.

I have packed a small overnight bag and will fetch Thomas after school and then drive straight on to Cambridge. It is such a beautiful city I am looking forward to wandering around there tomorrow morning. Unfortunately Adam is still away skiing so we won't get to see him.

Cold weather tomorrow!
