A view from Jeanneb

Auld Reekie

Leaving a murky West Yorkshire the train to Edinburgh my friend and we're taking this morning drove into blue skies just north of York.

It was still blue as we excited Waverley Station to see all the fun of the fair on Princes Street, though I'm not sure we will be flying up in this contraption alongside the Scott Monument!
Behind is Jenner's, thankfully still there for the time being and in front the Christmas market, all to be explored later.

We checked into to our hotel and noted that there has been considerable refurbishment since we were here 2 years ago.

Next, what is becoming a tradition, we headed to Harvey Nic's to look at the ludicrously priced clothes and have tea with a view over St Andrew's Square, the Castle and the New Town down to the Firth of Forth. Oh and we also had a large glass of Prosecco! A good start to our 4 day break I would say.

We had a great view from Harvey Nic's of the skyline at sunset. In St Andrew's Sq they have put the skating rink around the bottom of the statue. On previous visits it has been in the bottom of Princes Street Garden but this year there seems to be more market stalls and fairground rides down there. There seemed to be lots of people partaking.

Time for dinner now.
