Solid Foundations

Went over the Lake to Reguengos to buy plaster (Mike is plastering shower ceiling as I type). Loved how even the shop displays all feature the Christmas story; this was a stationery store, and a sign said they were still arranging the window, which explains why Baby Jesus has a string of lights wrapped round his face, I guess.

Spent most of the morning digging stones out of the ground to plant some bulbs, hope they come up... And doing three loads of washing as the sun was shining enough to pump the water, run the machine and dry the clothes on the line. And a bit more painting. Trying to leave the place clean and tidy, to come back to.

Today's Advent reading was from Matthew 7, Jesus saying how those who hear his words and work them into their lives are building a solid foundation:

The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. (v25)

Did we ever need a solid foundation more than now?
