SAGE, GATESHEAD

Late blip today as I didn't get home until 11.30pm.

This afternoon I walked down to the village for food shopping and to get my repeat prescription.  The wind had dropped and its was a few degrees warmer.

I watched some catch up TV later on and then had my tea.

Then I headed for the Sage, Gateshead.  I had a ticket to see the film Brassed Off.  The music was performed live by The Grimethorpe Colliery Brass band.

Brassed Off was the surprise box-office hit of 1996 and was nominated for three BAFTAs, as well as winning nine international film awards.  It regularly features in lists of the best British films ever made.  The  bittersweet comedy drama stars Pete Postlethwaite, Ewan McGregor, Stephen Tompkinson and Tara Fitzgerald.

As well as playing during the film the brass band did a set before the film for around half and hour and after the film they played another tune as an encore. The film was excellent and it was wonderful to hear the Colliery Brass Band playing all the music live.  I really enjoyed myself.

Walked back to Gateshead bus station and had around 30 mins to wait for my bus home.  Luckily I was waiting indoors so I wasn't too cold.

My collage shows some of the Christmas lights and the Christmas tree inside The Sage, a view of The Sage from outside and the River Tyne and Millennium Bridge.
