Grand Central on Ponsonby Road

A cool and wet morning did not encourage me to head out for a run. Another factor was that the man we have got doing some of the heavy work on the banks and the front chaos after the building work, was coming to talk with us at an early hour as these blokes do.

Because I was then writing a long and complex report, and we had to get back to Auckland, I fitted in a run back here after getting the report off with a courier.

Along Ponsonby Road, I went past Grand Central and then stopped. Thought that it looked good with the three gents sitting outside. A mix characteristic of Ponsonby Road; African, Asian and Pakeha.

Grand Central is Ponsonby Road's longest serving bar.

Inspired by New York's great jazz, blues and rock venues, we are passionate about live music. We have regular open mic nights and you can catch established and up-and-coming acts here every night. except for Sunday when we are closed.

Grand Central carries a range of premium wine, beers and spirits.
We are open until 3 am, and we run a daily happy hour from 4 pm to 7pm.

There is also an upstairs room available for private functions, free of charge.

The last is one reason that taking a photograph of the Grand Central appealed to me. Some years ago, when S was starting to read her poetry in public, the regular Poetry Live evenings were held here. Upstairs in a room with a broad range of people, I listened and understood at some level why others like poetry.

This is my first prospective offering in the One Street movement
