Life in Sunny Dubai

Dream Come True

I can't believe that I have just seen Live in concert - Sara Groves, a singer/songwriter I have been listening to since 2001! The evening was fantastic and more. We also got introduced to a new local artist - Steph McLeod. Nearly everyone was there because of him as well as to get an update on the work of the International Justice Mission, a charity that seeks to bring an end to modern-day slavery.

Sara and Steph took turns playing their sets, engaging with the audience by talking or painting the background behind the songs they sang. They ended by having us all join in to sing three very well known carols. The Carrubbers Christian Centre who hosted the concert gave us festive treats and a chance to buy CDs during a short interval. Best of all, before we left the venue, I got to meet her and chat briefly!!! :) I completely forgot to ask for a picture though!

Prior to that, I had an extremely early start (4:30) to drive to London Gatwick and leave the hire car there. We just made it to the Gate. We then landed 25 minutes early, despite taking off 20 minutes late, got a car for the two days and drove into town. We popped into Jenner's (see extra) as well as the Christmas market right opposite it. Unfortunately, drizzle ruined the day for any sightseeing.

Had lunch at the Salisbury Arms pub - chosen randomly mainly because of their free parking!! We couldn't get into the room till 3pm, so had time to catch up with the very early start to the day! It was great that it stopped raining by 3:30 and that meant we got to have a walk around and see things. The tram was good too.
