Nicky and her Nikon

Coffee time!

Gavin, Luke and I went in to the village today to get the last of the grocery shopping before Christmas. But first we had a coffee at my previously-favourite coffee shop. So called, as it has changed ownership and I don't like what the new owners have changed, and besides they no longer have such a tantalising choice of cakes including their famous gluten free carrot cake. Now it is just the usual boring array of croissants, pain au chocolat, muffins and brownies. So disappointing! We then wandered around the monthly Saturday morning market and stopped at the stall of Ollo Foods where the stall holder was making the most delicious gluten free dosa. We bought some and also bought some delicious home made curry sauces and pickles. The stall holder was so interesting telling us all about the food of southern India and explaining what true Indian food really is all about. Apparently the Indian food we are familiar with comes from northern India which is actually more Afghanistani in origin than Indian.

We then braved the supermarket. It was so busy! However, very pleasing to see that there were staff directing traffic in the car park making sure no car held up the inflow of cars for any prolonged period of time while they looked for a parking. I have now bought all the final produce for our Christmas dinner so if we don't have it, we just go without. It is quite ridiculous the fuss we make over Christmas dinner, its only one meal and yet we shop as if we are about to undergo a 30 day siege.

A quiet afternoon at home followed. I took some photos at the market this morning but I did not like them so I snapped Adam reading the paper while enjoying a coffee.
