Ski Day!

I was actually back at work today (to Newark), but I had the morning at home and so I was able to watch the two ski races from Davos in Switzerland. The ladies had a 10k race and the men a 15k. These are the two skiers I cheer for the most.

Jessie Diggins is from the US and she won the first US Olympic gold medal last year (in a relay with Kikkan Randall). Today she came 5th out of 75 racers. The American ladies team are doing very well this weekend - yesterday Sophie Caldwell came 2nd in the sprint races.

Andrew Musgrave is the top British skier in a very small team. He lives and trains in Norway now, but is from Scotland. Today he came in 10th out of 100 racers. A top 10 position is extremely good for both of them in a sport that is dominated by the Nordic athletes. Well done to both!

It was a cosy morning, drinking tea and enjoying my ‘little’ tree and the Swedish Christmas figures who sit by the TV. This will be the last skiing until after Christmas. The athletes will be having a rest (and some training) over Christmas before the 7-day Tour de Ski that starts on the 29th. Can’t wait!
