Christmas Day

This is the calm before the storm. A picture Henry took this morning, which I really like. Our house is small, but perfectly formed (well, that’s how the saying goes, and we are getting there with that one!) Anyway, you can see my lovely conservatory with one Christmas tree, moving through the dining room and peeking through to the lounge, with tree number 2. All looking lovely and Christmassy with the table laid, just waiting for the guests!

We’ll rewind 6 hours from the time this photo was taken, and I woke at 7.45. A lie in!!! Even more unusual as I’m normally awake really early on Christmas morning. It’s a sign my babies are all grown up, so no Santa duties for us this year. I needed the sleep, and hope for more lies in this week!

The kids weren’t far behind us, and by 8 we were all on the sofas opening piles of presents. We have all been really lucky, as always!

Oven put on at 8.30, turkey in at 9 and the timings set for the rest of the morning to ensure everything went in on time!

Mum and dad joined us for a huge turkey dinner at about 2. It was lovely - one of the few meals I’m really good at! We didn’t leave the dining room until almost 4. Then games, tv, chocolate and chatter. A quick FaceTime with Manda and now we are waiting for Henry. He is upstairs building something electronic with his new electronic set. (It’s almost like homework....at last he’s doing something he wants to do outside the classroom!) When he comes down, we are going to try to play his new game Risk: ‘Captain America Civil War’. The rules look very complicated.

Then later it has to be Call the Midwife, a cup of tea...and more chocolate!

Merry Christmas everyone :-)
