Christmas nuts

Today, as I left the house for a walk, I found myself stopping to watch a couple of squirrels going nuts playing high speed tag in the three great ash trees at the bottom of the Close.  I had my camera out, but my reactions aren't fast enough.   However, on my return I could only see one of them and somewhere it had found a tasty walnut.  There are quite a few walnut trees in the wider area, but not immediately round here, so I'm racking my brains to work out where this one might have come from.  Do you suppose it had escaped from a Christmas table?
