Blue Stripes

I love it when the sea is stripy. And today the sky matched. Which is more than can be said for my hat and gloves (See Extras, taken by Mr PP). I just finished knitting myself a red beret. It does go with my black and red jacket and red gloves and handbag ... but today, for a walk round muddy country lanes, it didn't match my more casual wear.

Regular visitors to this journal will not be surprised to hear that the result reminded me of Jenny Joseph's poem Warning, which opens with the lines:

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple,
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.

I do hope my new hat does suit me, though. It can be worn one of two ways, but the other way, pulled low over my ears and forehead does give me the look of a Victoria Wood character!

My other Extra (using them up before the end of the year!) is a vignette of the grandpiggies, taken just before their journey home yesterday.
