LA'AL RATTY

Long drive round today so Mum could enjoy nice views from the comfort of a chair.  We whizzed up the M6, the prettiest part of it of course, then along the A66 to Cockermouth.  Stopped for a little walk around the town, but not much was open.  We did have a coffee and tea cake in Bryson's Bakery though. Then back into the car along the A595 along the Western Lakes area.  We arrived in Ravenglass to find that La'al Ratty (the little steam trains for anyone not knowing) were running.  We didn't actually go on the trains as I've already been on twice this year, but we did call into the café for lunch and for me to take some photos, well it would have been rude not to wouldn't it.  Also it's STEAM TRAINS, a love of which I have inherited from my wonderful late father.  There is something magical about steam trains, even miniature ones.  The best being The Flying Scotsman of course (which I was on earlier this year).

Then back into the car to ride through the lovely scenery via Muncaster back down to Greenodd, over the Mosses (B road from Haverthwaite to Grange-over-sands) and back home again.

I've included a couple of extras, one of the River Derwent, with Jennings Brewery in the distancre (I think I've got the right river, I know the rivers Derwent and Cocker merge in Cockermouth!!!!)
