Garlic

So much to choose from again today - hence a few extras. Despite the forecast (we did get pretty wet last night) this morning dawned fair with a bit of blue sky and sun. We set off for the Mercado da Ribeira. This is the main food market in Lisbon where vegetables, fish, butchery and so on are for sale. Half of the market hall has been taken over by Time Out and turned into a trendy place for coffee and something to eat (1st extra).

We then walked up to the gardens of the Basílica da Estrela past the cheery 'Glasgow's Miles Better' planter (2nd extra) and the smart but stark offices (3rd extra). After a walk round these lovely gardens we headed towards the Lisbon Botanical Garden by way of lunch. There are wonderful trees in both.

By the time we left the Botanics the rain had returned so we walked smartly back to the apartment. Lisbon is a very hilly city and as well as clocking up many steps each day we're doing a lot of up and down too.

So now it's a couple of hours inside I think till the rain stops as it is forecast to do. We're planning a wander and dinner tonight somewhere near the castle which is just to the back of the apartment - and uphill again of course.
