Nicky and her Nikon

A morning departure

Last night the dinner provided by our children was outstanding - there was an excellent starter of roasted peaches, serrano ham and mozzarella, followed by salmon en croute with delicious veggies, a rather wicked gluten free and dairy free chocolate pudding, and then cheese and biscuits for those who still could eat more! They had arranged a long trestle table in their sitting room where we all sat and ate. It was lovely to meet the other parents of Luke's house mates, and everyone had travelled from far to get there. After dinner the charades started, which was a lot of fun. We finally left at 1am!

It was rather cruel getting up early this morning after such a late night - we had a quick breakfast at the hotel and were on the road again by 8.30am. We did not spend the day in Durham as Luke was at a hockey reffing course in Leeds all day - he had to leave Durham at 7am this morning to get there which was also a shock for him. We got home by lunch time and I quickly popped some chicken and root veggies in to the oven while I unpacked. Thomas had coped fine in our absence.

I took this photo just before we left, there was a beautiful sunrise but I missed most of it.

It will be an early night tonight - it was a lovely weekend though and worth going all that way for dinner!
