NOT SO TIMEROUS WEE BEASTIE

A different day today than planned.  Was going to visit Mum in Morecambe but she has caught a nasty cold and didn't want us to come over as we'd both recently already had two particularly nasty ones and an infection.  So we'll go over in a few days time.  Brother lives up the road so he keeps an eye on her anyway.

What to do - could go to the model exhibition in Kendal and if the sun hadn't shone I would have.  So looking at the weather we decided we'd do a short local walk.

I'd always meant to cross a walking bridge over the River Leven at Greenodd.  Gladders and wifie had mentioned this walk to Roudsea Wood and that there is a lovely bakery there with a café.

I did some research on the walk and then after parking in Greenodd we found the cycle route to start with and found a path that goes right under the dual carriageway that I never knew was there before.

Boy was it very very windy.  Met quite a lot of walkers and especially dog walkers, but then of course I'd forgotten it is Sunday.

We have a very pleaseant, if wild, windy and muddy in places walk to Roudsea.  We decided that as there was a lot of dark clouds around we started off for Mearness Farm and came across these wee beasties, which I totally was not expecting.  I couldn't get a sharp shot as I didn't have my zoom lens with me, but this isn't too bad.

After meeting this handsome fella though, and his friends, the sky looked quite leaden so we just headed back to LadySykes House and back to Greenodd.

Sadly when we go there the Bakery had all tables (there's only about 5) were all fully booked for quite some time.  Lesson learnt, didn't know you could book but will do so in future even on a week day.

Anyway we discovered the Ship Inn was open which is also apparently home of Greenodd Brewery.  We weren't expecting much judging from the outside, but we were wrong.  It was very pleasant inside, especially as we sat around the corner away from the distraction of a TV screen.  They had Roast Beef on today, so it would be rude not to try it wouldn't it.  Followed by homemade Sticky Toffee Pudding, without the sauce as they'd run out of cream so I had to endure Raspberry and Gin ice cream with it!!!!!! DELICIOUS.

As it turned out the rain didn't come, but we've earmarked that a future walk on a weekday when the weather is somewhat better.

All in all a lovely day.

Mum's cold is just that, and she's just frustrated as she can't get out.

Hope you all had a nice day.  Look forward to seeing your blips.
