Kong

A day exploring the sights of Wolverhampton.
OK, it's not exactly a tourist trap but there are still some fascinating building facades with wonderful architecture if one looks hard enough, an impressive medieval collegiate church and a rather splendid art gallery. (I mentioned the excellent West Park and the canal system that surrounds the city yesterday.)

Wolverhampton, as I learned on Sunday, has the largest collection of Pop Art outside of London and there is a special exhibition of that on display at the moment. The fibreglass sculpture of King Kong that is my Blip of the day was created by Nicholas Monro, and there were also artworks by Warhol, Paolozzi and Howson, among others, on display. An unexpected find!

Didn't leave the city centre, and it's quite compact, and still managed 20,500+ steps. Must have been a lot of retracing of steps going on!
