ROMAN IN THE GLOAMIN'

Hi all, very grey and cold day all day to day.  Hubby rather tired after a full day erecting a shed and doing maintenance work at Kents Bank station yesterday.

Last week after suffering excrutiating pain in his hip / top of leg he went to the Doctors (which is a miracle in itself) and was diagnosed with Bursitis!!! I'd never heard of it before but apparently it's inflammation and swelling of a bursa, which is a fluid-filled sac which forms under the skin, usually over the joints, and acts as a cushion between the tendons and bones.  Anyway he was given very strong pain killers to take just for three days.  Almost immediately the pain started to go.  He completed that and after yesterday his leg was still OK but a little tender.  So no pushing it today.

Didn't want to stay in all day so we just went for a drive up to Waterhead in Ambleside.  Had coffee in a cafe there, then walked around Borrans Park over into the Roman Fort (as per photo) and into the next field.  The lake was coming up to meet the pathways, but all passable just soggy and muddy.

After that we decided we'd try and go for lunch at Chesters on the river at Skelwith Bridge.  After much difficulty in parking we went into the cafe, and there was a queue go just to get a table!!  Third time I've tried to get in there.  We decided we didn't really need to queue up to spend our money so decided to nip over to the Blue Bird Cafe at Coniston.  Busy but no queuing.  Then just drove home after that.

Traffic queue at Greenodd roundabout but this was just due to road works (clearing drains I think) but it didn't take us too long.

Photos not great today as the light was not good, but this is one of the better ones.  Hubby had never been to the Roman Fort before so wanted to read all the notices about it.

Hope you all had a good day.  Take care.
