Happy birthday to me

Lovely day. If we are here for either of our birthdays, we always go to Oliva in Nerja for lunch. It gets better every time: this time we splashed out on the tasting menu with matching wines. Kicked off with bread with the addictive herb butter we can't get enough of, a constant since our first visit in 2011. Then two aperitivos, two starters, a fish course, a trou normand catalan, a meat course, dessert, coffee. They were all tiny and exquisite, so no danger of over-eating. They also get a gold star for not having a special Valentine's menu (apart from making the usual Parmesan crisp pink and heart-shaped). Expensive but well worth it for a special occasion

We went on the bus, so no worries about driving home afterwards. That gave us an hour in Nerja before lunch -- we lounged on the beach in the sun and watched cormorants drying their wings and then diving for fish. Too far away to get any decent photos with my little camera though.

A lazy evening at home, filling any small gaps  with a few bits of ham and a cute heart-shaped cake from Mari-Trini (best patisserie in Almuñecar).
