Riverside

This is a stretch of the river Great Ouse, (actually part of a mill race off the river) on a day that's more like April than February. Beautiful though the weather is one begins to wonder whether this is all part of the warming effects of climate change, though maybe it's just unusual but not all that unlikely to have such a warm month this early in the year. It looks like winter but feels like spring. The birds all think it's time to get going, so I hope they don't get an unpleasant surprise if it cools off in a week or two. And of course lots of plants are coming into bud very early too.

It was good to get a decent walk this morning as things have been a bit busy of late. I took a river path I don't follow that often, and saw a group of long-tailed tits busy searching the trees for insects beside one of the many ponds that border the river. Not a sign of anything on the water though -- maybe the busy main road nearby puts the water birds off.
