Quod oculus meus videt

Came Begging

A beautiful morning, made all the better by the colour of the sky.  I was busying myself capturing the scene, playing with images to create a panoramic stitch, when this swan sidled up looking for food.  My wife will be disappointed that I hadn't taken any with me when I headed out first thing.

I'd been shooting at base ISO as the swan appeared in the right of the last frame so I had to quickly change the setting to get enough speed to freeze its movement.  It certainly didn't seem to affect the resultant blended image.

I'm still getting the hang of the new Z6 but so far I'm very happy with its performance.  I've now bought an after sales book written by a commentator on Nikon and mirrorless cameras. Thom Hogan, so that I can better understand some of the intricacies of the camera.  He certainly goes to town on his explanations, not just telling you what to do, but the technical background of what the camera is doing so that you have a better grasp of why a certain setting is preferable.  It goes over my head sometimes, like a comment about the phase detect auto focus system that goes back to an original patent made by Honeywell.
