On a High

Much of Europe is being blessed with wonderful sunny weather. It's still very cold at night down to as much as -10°C so the snow is melting slowly. Has the advantage that there is no flooding and the water should be soaking down thus replenishing the groundwater.

My son J and his girlfriend are on the same mainland continent enjoying  a fabulous 3 day weekend in Amsterdam. Nice to see him not just diving into the nearest bar and downing the cheap beer. He sent photos of him outside a very nice looking coffee shop with decorative environmentally friendly paintings on the walls of tropical plants. Makes a change from gaudy tulips.  He says they spent some time there that it was a nice joint. More photos followed of tandem bike riding alongside the canals and of course they also did a boat trip. Good to see he is getting sensible in old age.

Back in the summer of 1973, I tried my first joint. One puff and that was it, never again. For the police, it was probably late August at a party somewhere in the Costessey area of Norwich. All I remember of the night was the David Essex song Rock On playing incessantly. It kind of fitted the "high" mood. I plead guilty to having had one lung full of the weed.

The Blip is of our late afternoon 17:00 walk on the outskirts of the village - the Picnic Table Walk as we call it, about 3km. Has the advantage that almost all of it is a tarmac track used 99.9% only by tractors and there aren't any of those around at the moment. The little bit of track to the left is still frozen ice as the sun never gets to it. The picnic table is at the edge of the forest in the left background.

The Geotag on the map is at the point the panorama was taken and often the place we start walks as there are two circular walks depending on the weather - use satellite rather than map view. The one as today over the open fields enjoying the sunshine or in the opposite direction with wind sheltered walks through the forest.
