Quod oculus meus videt

Dawn Bow

It's noticeable how often you get this type of sky, first thing in the morning.  It appears as though the cloud is bowed across the sky, whereas it is a straight front of high cirrus cloud following the curvature of the earth.

I didn't have a lot of time to find a location to capture the image so chose this bend in the canal.  It almost seems to accentuate the curve of the sky.

I had a commission this evening, photographing dignitaries at a civic dinner.  It was a pleasant surprise to bump in to an ex works colleague who was providing the pre-dinner musical entertainment.  He'd had an eventful time getting to the venue, having been involved in a car crash at a notoriously narrow section of road nearby.  Thankfully it was only his front bumper that was bent!
