Glencoe - Day 2 - Corpach old boat

As expected, today it rained all day. I woke up early in case there was a sunrise to be seen, but no, only very low cloud and rain. We are staying in a garden room of our hotel - I think they only have a few rooms in the main house and the rest are these garden suites. They are incredible little cottages, fully fitted out with everything you can think of, including a well appointed kitchen with an aga. The fridge is fully stocked by the hotel with food for guests to enjoy which is included in the room rate. If you wish to eat in the hotel those meals are charged for as an extra cost. However today they invited us to eat breakfast in the hotel at no extra cost, so after a delicious breakfast of fruit followed by eggs royale we finally set off for another day of exploring and photography.

We started at Glencoe Lochan which is just behind our hotel. It was raining but I still managed to photograph some lovely reflections - see extras. Then we set off to Fort William, and beyond that to Corpach to see the old boat wreck on the beach. This view behind the boat is of Ben Nevis and there are some iconic photos around showing the mountain in all it's glory. Today however, with the low cloud we only saw the base of Ben Nevis and I doubt anyone will be seeing it all of this week with the current weather. Gavin was also interested to see the Caledonian Canal which starts there, and runs all the way to Inverness.

It was cold and raining harder by now so we went into Fort William for lunch. We found an excellent vegan cafe where I enjoyed an outstanding tumeric latte, and we had mushroom and fennel soup for lunch with a chickpea salad.

After lunch we drove south to Appin to see Castle Stalker. Even though it was still drizzling and windy there was a break in the clouds and there was some good light behind the castle - see extra.

It was good to get back to our room at the hotel and enjoy a fire while we relaxed. We have decided to eat in tonight, out freezer is fully stocked with a wonderful choice of 'Cooks' meals which are easy enough to throw into the aga with no fuss. Tonight it is lamb tagine, rice, glazed carrots and root vegetables.

Despite the rain we have had another wonderful day - tomorrow, more exploring and then we are having supper with another blipper tomorrow night.

Thank you so much for the kind comments and hearts on yesterday's blip.
