Da Final Days o da Nil Desperandum

A windy day, a dull day, and a wet day.  Drier in the morning, poured all afternoon, but dry tonight.

I've been working at the museum all day, and a steady day of visitors.  I was really busy all day  setting up for a big event tomorrow.  I've had another early shift at the pub.  Walkies with Sammy stayed dry, now the feet are up, ready to watch the Shetland final.

Came to work this morning, and our old fishing boat, the Nil Desperandum LK 235, was chopped in half.  It's her final days for this world, and heading for the scrappy.  There was speak about the wood being used  but she's rotten through.  She'll be a big miss in the harbour, but time moves on.  Grandad Mitchell sailed for her for a few years after the whaling days, from 1963-67, so I've always had a soft spot for this boat.  Larry Smith (Cunningsburgh) on far left, Laurence Smith (Bigton) far right.  The second photo shows young Jeemie Wiseman, the owners son with the propellor.  He also sailed with grandad.  Taken at Hay's Dock, Lerwick.
