Fond Farewell

It hardly seems any time at all since we were singing Happy Birthday to You, to Val, to celebrate her 80th birthday.

Today, a core contingent of the Leicester Bach Choir went to pay their respects at her funeral at the South Leicestershire Crematorium. She had served the half time refreshments from the time I joined in 2005, until a couple of years ago.

The ceremony was, like her, brief and to the point. She was, apparently, a great fan of The Archers on Radio 4 and enjoyed a good detective drama on the telly. Would that have included Line of Duty?

The anemones in the grounds were splendid, viz today's double exposure. The sun threatened to break through but eventually gave up the struggle.

This afternoon, Len, Basil and I walked round to Colin's to present him with a bottle of Harris Gin. Len and I helped him christen it, so to speak.

After Len sped off to tennis, Colin told me that when he had been in hospital before Christmas, a nurse had checked his records in answer to his query about a CT scan he'd had in mid 2018. She told him that the scan had shown evidence of a minor stroke. Nobody had told Colin about this and his doctor had glossed over it when challenged.

Maybe he might not have worked so hard on getting his house decorated had he known this earlier.
