Clearing the barriers

The moment the last tardy but determined entrant had crossed the finishing line of today's "London Landmarks Half Marathon" on Whitehall, close to Downing Street, teams sprang into action to pull down the banners, dismantle the finish arch, load the portaloos onto trailers and remove the hundreds of barriers along the route.

It was a lovely Spring day with clear skies and bright sun - but not too hot, I think, for the runners - so ideal conditions.  There were plenty of people out and about, not just to watch the race but to enjoy the lovely weather.  One ice cream vendor I passed had even run out of ice cream!
