Tombstone Roses

This weekend the Tombstone Rose Festival is taking place (not to be confused with the Rose festival in Pasadena).  You might have heard of Tombstone as the site of the Shootout at the OK Corral and stories about Doc Holliday and the famous Earp brothers: Wyatt, Virgil and Morgan.  This festival represents a softer side of this living old west town, a celebration of the world's largest Rose Tree.  Tombstone roses are very small grow in clusters and are sort of a vine that spreads and spreads.  My photo was taken in my backyard before my neighbor snuck back there one day to trim the overhanging parts.

Next to whiskey, these may be the best thing Scotland has ever shared with the desert!

You can check here for more information about the festival and here for the rose's story and Scottish roots.

Had to come back to add my chuckle for the day:
Q: Why don't blind people skydive?
A. Because it scares the crap out of their dogs.
