The Winter and the Summer

Flower Friday: The Winter and the Summer

"Looks around with angel faceShe does everything with amazing grace

She wears smart clothes but no-one knows
She's got nobody waiting at home.

She is not the only song I sing
Though I sing them all for her
There is something in her melody
That I've never heard before.

The winter and the summer
Need never come again
The winter and the summer
Need never come again
In my life there is no season
No reason.

She is not the only book I read
See her pages are not torn
And her story is of loneliness
Though her memory still war.

The winter and the summer
Need never come again
The winter and the summer
Need never come again
In my life there is no season
No reason.

Every now and then I'm sad
Thinking what we could have had
If we'd met some years before
Would we now be wanting more.

She is not the only sound I hear
Though to hear her lights my day
There's no picture in the gallery
That has half as much to say.

The winter and the summer
Need never come again
The winter and the summer
Need never come again
In my life there is no season
No reason."

The Strawbs ~ The Winter and the Summer

Somehow this title is very appropriate to the weather we've been having just recently.   When I arrived home from work this evening Cathy had given in and put the heating back on.  In the meantime the snow in summer has arrived and is starting to out compete anything else in the small rockery by our patio pond.  Its lovely but it is a bit of a "thug" as Cathy likes to call successful plants that start to take over their neighbour's space in the planting scheme :-)
