LAMBERT HOTEL, FORMERLY ABBOT HALL HOTEL

Nice relaxing Tai Chi session this morning, which I managed to attend as I'd got through to the emergency Dental Access Centre reasonably early.

I wondered what I was going to blip and then remembered Abbot Hall Hotel which is just down the road from me and until a few months ago was a Christian Guilds Hotel.  It's now been sold to an organisation called The Carlauren Group, who are still running it as an hotel and it is now called The Lambert Hotel, I don't know why.  it currently has about 12 self catering lodges in the grounds and they plan to add about another 30!!!!  Don't know that this will work, but only time will tell.

Sadly you can see where the Christian Guild were running it down, probably due to lack of funds.  They have a tennis courts just by the railway line but this has now been left to go back to nature.  If they decide not to re-use it would be best just to lift the wire fencing round it and the tarmac and let nature take its course or turn it into a nice gardens. The new owners would do much better, in my humble opinion, in renovating the place first before adding more lodges.

Abbot Hall was the poor house for the area until 1822 and a building is reputed to have existed here since the 12th century.  I can't find anything more about it at the moment, so this is something I may need to research.   Our little Kents Bank railway station opened in 1857 and Abbot Hall and an inn existed close to the shore where the cross-sand route over Morecambe Bay from Lancaster met the land.  It is where the famous walk over the sands that Cedric Robertson did until recently ended.

The extra is a photo of a footpath leading from the hotel entrance to Kents Bank Railway station.

Further to the Dentist I have got an appointment for G in Kendal on Wednesday afternoon.  He's not in too much pain, but rough edges and niggly so he'll just have to take it steady food wise for a couple of days.

This is my entry for Mono Monday.  The theme is moving, move, movement.  Well this doesn't really convey that BUT the old owners have MOVED OUT and the new ones MOVED IN - so maybe that will suffice!!!
Hope you are all enjoying this fine day.
