Cruising the Yarra River

Fab views of Melbourne from the Yarra river and we saw our first Australian pelican and Black swans. One of the latter had a numbered ring round its neck, presumably as we'd see round legs of birds in Britain. We landed at a small, quaint 19th century port - Williamstown - and spent an hour walking around before cruising back to Victoria's capital. See Extra.

Made another sortie this evening to visit a weekly market event. It offered an ecletic array of food stalls with long queues for diverse favourites from around the world, from German Wurst to oriental pancakes. All extremely expensive! In addition there was music, dancing and many craft stalls to peruse. We were the most elderly people there by 40+ years, but there was a great atmosphere.

It's now wine time for us oldies in our apartment. It's small but has all we need, and feels less small when we think about life aboard the Australian submarine we toured not so long ago.
