Arrived

for our first night in the Highlands here in Dornie.
Our Airbnb is just across the road from Eilean Donan Castle seen here, and right opposite a pub where we have just had a drink and dinner.
Long journey not helped by seemingly endless roadwork traffic lights. One, in Hellifield, wasn’t changing from red at all, we followed a Police car through at red.
After breakfast at Tebay services, which exactly a week ago took 1.5 hours to get to and today took 2, we travelled in drizzle and low cloud till we got to Loch Lomond and had our sandwiches on the Lochside where thankfully it was dry.
Stopped for coffee at the Glencoe visitor centre where we were glad to be members of the National Trust as parking was £4 for non members. There were lots of Chinese/Koreans taking pictures of the Glen Coe Mts.
As we progressed north into the great Highland scenery the cloud lifted and we had a pleasant walk around this castle when we arrived. Gates were open and no one in the ticket kiosk so that was good too. I heard French, German, Spanish and American voices. Scotland is so popular internationally.

Lovely evening now and still light at 9.00 pm, always nice to get the long evenings at this time of year. Glad we’re here!
