Willow Evening Light

A wonderful calm evening walk enjoying the sounds of the birds. The willows seem to be the first to acquire spring colour and with their reflections in the calm water made for an idyllic scene.

As I framed up my shot I was excited to see the heron fly into view, normally they make quite a racket to announce their arrival. But today they were silent and I was so pleased to catch him high on a tree branch surveying the surroundings.

I tried to align the curve in the foreground reeds with the reflection of the willow and arrange the cattail slanting upwards from the bottom right almost pointing towards the heron. I think I could have improved the shot by moving slightly left and have the cattail further right.
