Oh No, Here we Go Again!

Every year about this time depending on the warmth of the weather (obviously not today with the temperature 7° feeling like 5°) out come the unwashed hordes with their throw away barbecues to have al fresco dining on the Meadows, and every year despite all the printed notices of where the designated barbecue sites are situated, they are simply placed straight on the grass wherever takes the fancy of the owner. For weeks afterwards we have rectangular black scars placed erratically over the green sward which take months to disappear until the new grass grows.

Now some public spirited person has put up home made salutary notices about the use of the barbecues. The person or persons must be hopeful that they will be responded to more favourably than to the official notices.
I imagine it will be like water running off a duck’s back. Not one of the other notices about dismounting when cycling through the site or not exercising dogs in the Gardens has ever had any effect.

I had a very tasty lunch with a friend in The Rabbit Hole on the Marchmont side of the Meadows and managed back home in time to see Glasgow daughter, Nina and Ewan through for a cultural visit to Edinburgh.
The children are off school for 2 days because of the first May holiday and in-service training. With The Easter holidays just a fortnight ago and the next May holiday in just over 3 weeks, my daughter is not expecting this month to very fruitful on the work front.
