Life through the lens...

By ValC

Cock a doodle doo.

Big decisions. What to Blip.
In the end both Mr C and I decided on this photo. Taken in the corner of a beautiful garden we visited this afternoon.

The day started with a drive over to Naburn Locks and a walk along the river.
A favourite spot of ours. Looking beautiful today. Blue sky and warm sunshine, birds singing, and the Chestnut trees in full flower.
Lunch sat out on a picnic table by the river, watching the many sand martins swooping in and out of their nests in the lock sides. A photo of a young one watching for his next meal on extras.

The afternoon was spent looking round the gardens of Stillingfleet Lodge.
I have wanted to visit here for a long time, but it is only open on certain days, and today it was open for the NGS ( National Garden Sceme). Raising money for Macmillan Nurses.
The scheme raised half a million pounds last year.

What a paradise. ( More photos on extras.)
There is an orchard, wild flower garden and meadow. Modern rill garden, herbaceous borders, pond, and courtyards.
Also rare breed poultry.

There was a lovely trio playing some very soothing music. Some old instruments which Mr C said sounded like something you would hear in Robin Hood’s time.
Perfect for the setting.
The house, built of mellow old York brick, was something we would move into tomorrow!
Just need someone to do the gardening.

I bought a plant as a momento of our visit.
Brunnera, macrophylla. “ Jacks Gold”.
Also called at a couple more nurseries and came back with a boot full of plants.
Looks like I am going to be busy tomorrow.

Thank you all for the stars and hearts for my little gosling. Very much appreciated. He was rather cute.
