Walking The Burren

We’ve had another amazing day, perfect weather beginning with a ride along the shore to the grave of the poet, John O’Donahue.

We were headed to Corcormore Abbey when one of the cars in our party blew two tires on a large rock along the roadside. The roads are incredibly narrow and when abreast of another car coming from the other direction there are no shoulders. So, we had a two hour adventure replacing the tires in Ballyvaughan.

Up and running again we made it to the ancient abbey ruins. Then on to the Burren Perfumery, amazing scents and facial concoctions all made from flowers collected from the Burren. The gardens there were so sweet and the cake and clotted cream at their teahouse, delicious. It was my first time tasting clotted cream and we saw Chaffinches looking for crumbs. I’ve only seen those little beauties on blip.

From there we drove to a spot where we could walk on The Burren. What a landscape with limestone in all shapes and ting wildflowers. We walked to St. Colman’s well and hermitage.

We finished up at Cassidy’s pub with a delicious meal.

For the Record,
This day came in sunny with blue sky and clouds.

All hands happy
