Clearing Beyond

A long lens picks out a few trees with a shallow depth of field providing a look through to a small clearing in the woods beyond them. Strong side light creates quite harsh shadows on some of the trunks, yet others are obscured and have a softer fall off, making a nice contrast.

Side light from the low evening sun emphasizes the textures of the bark and paints the sun lit sides in warm light. Sun light also streaks through the clearing whilst the foreground is mostly in shadow.

I think the leaning trunk and the diagonal branch above help to create a point of interest, directing the eye to the centre of the frame.
