Fan Pier

Quite a leisurely morning, a good breakfast the a gentle stroll to baggage drop and security which were negotiated with only minor delays and we were airside. Time only to pick up some cosmetics (Susan) the catch the shuttle to the C gates and boarded straight away.

Pushed back only a few minutes late but it took around half an hour to get to the head of the queue on the runway. Then we were off, smooth and quiet as you like. Unfortunately, mostly low cloud over England, Ireland and the Atlantic a view only appearing as we approached Boston.

Automatic immigration machine had difficulty reading my fingerprints, soon rectified. A long wait for baggage, it took over half an hour for our bags to arrive and there were still loads of people waiting.

A free bus took us downtown which was where the fun started trying to find the hotel by following the sat nav all over the shop dragging suitcases and carrying rucksacks in 30c temperatures.

We eventually found the hotel in the Seaport area. Nice large room with kitchen. Quiet too. After a restorative cup of “tea” we went for a stroll along a small part of the 47 mile Boston Waterfront trail in Seaport. Very busy as today this is Memorial Day weekend and everyone is out enjoying the holiday and the weather.

Today’s blip is of downtown Boston from Fan Pier - a regenerated area of the old waterfront which used to be a fan of railway lines radiating out from the docks.
