Snapping Turtle

We went to Fort River again, late this afternoon. Among the more than dozen turtles on the usual log was this snapping turtle--the first one we've ever seen at the refuge. Not only that: there was a much larger one in the water (60 cm in length, I would guess).  He held his head up, but soon dove and swam off. Exceptionally, a blue jay paused long enough for a photo (see the extra)--they normally are constantly moving (and higher :)
