Sitting This One Out

Went to Elaine’s early for breakfast then we set off to Ripley for the Summer Homes and Garden Fair.
We arrived in the now usual torrential rain and by the time we got inside the marquee l seriously considered that l was suffering from a bout of trench foot.
The bright pink carpet that covered the whole floor was looking in a very sorry state.
We looked at all the beautiful stalls of the usual racks of linen, cashmere and leather goods.
When the sun isn’t shining and you haven’t a holiday booked why would anyone want to buy a pair of white palazzo pants?
I felt really sorry for the stall holders who were trying to remain upbeat as the crowds trudged round with muddy feet and wet coats hardly being tempted by what was on offer.
After one lap of every stall we stopped for lunch and had the same choice as we have made for the last fourteen years because it is our favourite sandwich ( nothing exotic just how it is made) and slice of coffees and walnut cake :-)
We then head back to the stalls we needed to return to and made our purchases, for me: a small, smart rucksack to replace my current one which cost about £2:50 five years ago.
Resisted all other tempting garments and trinkets and went outside to check the garden area.
Was really, really tempted to buy a laser cut rusted panel for the garden but stood firm and left it there.
Came home feeling very virtuous.
Just sewn up Verity’s ripped blazer and accompanied Mr P on the ballet run to Skipton.
Not feeling very virtuous now as we might have fish and chips for supper and watch the football on TV, come on girls!

Saw this garden seat half hidden in the undergrowth, well out of sight and forlorn, it looked as if the lengths of timber were suspended in mid air.
Thanks to 60plus for hosting Derelict Sunday.
