A time for everything

Tatton Park

Monday
A cold showery day, but we made the most of it and went to Tatton Park, National Trust property for the day. It wasn’t the best day to go, since the mansion was closed, but the gardens and park were open, and the cafe. We walked around the gardens first, including around the perimeter of the beautiful Japanese garden - you can only go inside it on a guided tour - and the maze - turned out Jen was good at getting us out of there (!). Unfortunately, the many rhododendrons were past their best, many of them totally over. Then we had lunch in the cafe, before going quite a long walk around the deer park - they have herds of fallow and red deer in the park. It’s also a great place for plane spotting, as it lies very close to Manchester airport! Besides the deer, we came across large numbers of coots and Canada geese on the lake, including a few large families of Canada geese.
