Staircase

We woke to dampness and low clouds – very dreich and gloomy.  Not a very inspiring start to our week away.  The boys went off in search of church and I went for a run.  I could see nothing, no views, nothing except greyness and fog.  We didn’t quite know what to do with ourselves.  TT suggested going to Belsay, so in the absence of any better ideas, we did.

We hadn’t visited for a good few years, but we wandered around the house, the gardens, the quarry garden and the ruined castle and then back to the café for a  late lunch.  The sun made the briefest of appearances, just to tease us I think.  Once we were done we headed back home.  TT went out for a run, and got lost in the fog,  BB watched Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,  and I chilled out and read my book.

TT made a fabulous chicken curry for tea and later we settled down to the first series of Line of Duty which TT has never watched.

Here is BB heading up the stairs in Belsay Hall.  The lush greenness in the garden (extra) was in real contrast to the gloomy day.
