A day in the life

Solstice

The light this time of year is amazing, especially the soft white light late at night. It's the summer solstice today, the lightest day of the year. The time of the blip is twenty to ten and the sun is still over the horizon on our latitude.

We celebrated it with a traditional meal of pickled herring, salmon, eggs, sallads and new potatoes together with various drinks of personal preference, typically beer or rosé wine, schnapps or, in my case as a driver -water. Some cheese and bread were served and later coffee with a lovely cake on rhubarb and strawberries. Lots of conversation around the table and soon some instruments were sounding and singing of songs began.

A friendly and positive start of times to come.
