Common Enchantments

Swimming pond

In October of 2015 the 1000 year flood swept devastation  upon our South Carolina area with over 24 inches of rain in less than 12 hours.  Ponds with earthen dams burst, roads washed out and buildings were destroyed.   Now almost 4 years later, not much has been done to repair old dams (which were mostly private and would cost hundreds of thousands to dollar to repair) including this location here.   The road was actually part of the dam at this pond/swimming hole. The highway department fixed the road in a little over a year but there is no pond.   Since the owner does not have to build a dam for the road to be safe, this pond will go back to nature with a small creek running through it.   This platform used to be the jumping off platform for diving and sunbathing in the middle of the pond.

Looking pretty derelict now even though it probably had not been used for many years before the flood washed the road out and the pond disappeared.  A good outdoor shot for monoMonday and a derelict photo entry for Derelict Sunday.

First ride in the car to the store and library post ankle operation.   I just stayed in the car watching the people and looking for photo opportunities.

A broken ankle is a  great way to slow down and notice things.   I found that looking at everything (like the shopping cart rack outside in the parking lot) really gives one a different perspective of lines, shapes, patterns, colors, textures and perspective.    Definitely is more contemplative type of photography for me than finding pretty things to share on Blipfoto.
